The province of Biscay, is a cosmopolitan and strategic province perfectly adapted to modern times. Its capital, Bilbao, combines exceptionally both its industrial tradition and its forward-looking spirit, being the innovation and the know-how the main basis for its consolidation as a reference of an international business city.
Both Bilbao and its metropolis are equipped with services, quality of life, and strong industrial structure and with first-rate infrastructures that make Bilbao –and also Biscay- an exceptional place for visiting and doing business.
Bilbao has led the most important revitalization process in the north of Spain, started by the symbolic Bilbao Guggenheim Museum and continued by key infrastructure investments, which have allowed Bilbao to be the main hub of the socioeconomic developmentand the modernization of Biscay´s surroundings.
However, it is necessary to say that not only has the Bilbao Guggenheim Museum contributed to this process, but also the Euskalduna Conference Centre and Concert Hall, the Alhóndiga Bilbao, the Puente Colgante or the nearby Bilbao Exhibition Centre located in Barakaldo. They are only a few examples of the most representative buildings that have played an active role in the transformation of the city and its surroundings.
At the same time, a wide communications network, the International Airport of Loiu (just ten minutes far from the city centre), the Port of Bilbao (a first class commercial port) and a modern network of road accesses and the rapid transit system are considered as well as key impelling factors in the connection of Bilbao both nationally and internationally.
There is no other city in the north of Spain with so many reasons to be the economic, financial, cultural and tourist capital city.
